Zonnedimmer dongle
The little box for your smart meter: your grid import, feed-in and own use, live in the app.
The dongle
With your Zonnedimmer account you already see what your panels produce. The dongle also reads your smart meter, so you see what you take from the grid, what you feed back and how much of your own solar power you use yourself.

What you get
Measured at your smart meter, so exactly what goes in and out of your home. Live, and by day and month afterwards.
How much of what your panels produce do you use yourself? You only know once you put production and meter side by side. The app does that for you.
With the dongle, Zonnedimmer can dim your panels just enough that you stop feeding in, while they keep producing what you use.
Why that mattersConnecting
No installer needed. All you need is your phone and Wi-Fi at your meter cupboard.
Into the P1 port of your smart meter. The light turns red first, and blue after about half a minute: then it is ready to pair.
Light: red, then blue
An older meter (version 2 or 4) does not supply power through the P1 port. You will need a USB-C adapter as well.
The app finds the dongle over Bluetooth. Pick your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
Light: blue
The dongle uses 2.4 GHz. Most routers broadcast that by default.
The light turns green and your grid import, feed-in and own use appear in the app straight away.

Why only your feed-in?
Today a kWh you use costs about as much as a kWh you feed in earns. On 1 January 2027 net metering ends, and that changes.
≈ equal
use and feed-in, with net metering
For every kWh you feed in, you get the energy tax and VAT back. On a dynamic contract, what you pay for using power is almost what you get for feeding it in.
± € 0.16
per kWh difference, from 2027
You no longer get the taxes back on power you feed in. When the bare price is negative, you pay to feed in, while your own use still costs money. Only below roughly −€ 0.16 does using power become free too.
So at those moments you don’t want to switch your panels off entirely. You want to dim only your feed-in.
Minimise feed-in
Turn on “Minimise feed-in” in the app. When the price is negative, we steer your inverter so your panels produce roughly what your home uses at that moment. You feed in as little as possible, and take as little as possible from the grid.
Do you already feed in more than you use over a year? Then that part already falls outside net metering, and this helps you today.
Not yet for Enphase and Huawei inverters: they cannot dim in steps. The dongle still gives you the insight.
