Together with Enexis
On sunny days, the grid in some neighbourhoods gets too full. By briefly dimming solar panels, we prevent it from overloading.
Do you live in a selected grid area?
Do you live in a selected Enexis grid area? Then you can join Zonnedimmer. When your solar panels are temporarily dimmed, you receive compensation of € 0.25 per dimmed kWh.

Only homes in selected Enexis grid areas are eligible.
Joining is easy
Enter your postcode and house number and instantly see whether your home is in an area where Enexis uses Zonnedimmer to relieve pressure on the grid.
Create an account and connect your inverter. This is done securely via the manufacturer’s cloud environment.
In the app, you can see what is happening. When your solar panels are temporarily dimmed, you automatically receive € 0.25 per dimmed kWh.
Why dimming is needed
More and more neighbourhoods generate a lot of solar power. At sunny moments, this can temporarily overload the electricity grid. If too many households feed electricity back at the same time, this can lead to overloaded cables or even power outages.
That is why Enexis works together with Zonnedimmer. When the grid gets too full, we can temporarily dim solar panels through the inverter. As soon as there is enough capacity on the grid again, your solar panels automatically return to full output.
Zonnedimmer works via the official online (cloud) connections of inverter manufacturers. This means we can dim safely and reliably without any changes in your home.

Zonnedimmer works with inverters from SolarEdge, Enphase, Growatt, GoodWe, SMA, Solis, Solax, SAJ, Huawei and Sungrow. Your inverter must also be connected to the internet and you must have access to the manufacturer’s app.
We estimate dimmed generation based on measured solar irradiance (KNMI) at your location and the historical output of your inverter during the day.
This depends on how full the electricity grid in your neighbourhood is. On sunny days, solar panels may be dimmed more often, especially in neighbourhoods with many solar panels.
We dim collectively on behalf of Enexis when the grid in an area is busy. We have no view of what you use at home; we only read the generation of your inverter.
If a lot is dimmed while you are using a lot of power, you may draw extra power from the grid. The compensation is set with that in mind (€ 0.25/kWh covers the price of consumption in most cases).
Most households mainly feed in at sunny moments. Then the compensation is considerably higher than the missed revenue — most households pay feed-in costs on what they feed in.
